This policy explains how OGAMAX collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use OGAMAX at ogamax.ng and in the OGAMAX app. It is written to meet the requirements of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
1. Who we are
OGAMAX operates the marketplace described in this policy. You can contact us about your personal information at support@ogamax.ng.
2. Information we collect
Account information: your name, email address, phone number, password (stored in protected form, never in plain text), and your business name if you provide one.
Location information: the location you confirm for a search or booking, which can be your device location or a pin you place on the map. We store your state, local government area and coordinates. Your exact address is collected only when you book.
Booking information: the service you request, the description of the work, photos you add, your private address or landmark, and the messages you exchange through the app.
Professional information: your business profile, services, working hours and coverage, profile and work photos, and identity documents or professional certificates. Identity documents are private to you and to authorised OGAMAX staff.
Payment information: payment references, amounts and status for membership payments. Card details are entered on and handled by Paystack; OGAMAX does not store full card numbers.
Technical information: session and security records, including IP address, browser type and the times you sign in. We use these to keep accounts secure and to prevent abuse.
Device notifications: if you turn on device alerts, we store the notification subscription for your device.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to match you with professionals and show search results, to send your request and share it with the professional you book, to let you and the professional communicate, to verify professionals and approve services, to process membership payments, to send service messages about your account and bookings, to keep the platform secure, and to meet our legal obligations.
4. Legal bases
We rely on performing our agreement with you (providing the marketplace and bookings), on your consent where we ask for it (for example, location access and device alerts), on our legitimate interests in keeping the platform safe and preventing fraud, and on legal obligations.
5. Who we share information with
Your exact address, phone number and work photos are shared only with the professional you book, and with authorised OGAMAX staff who need them to operate the service. Professional business information, profile photos, approved work photos and completed-job ratings are public. We use service providers to run the platform: Neon (database), Cloudinary (media storage), Resend (email) and Paystack (payments). They process information only to provide their service to us. We do not sell your personal information.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Nigeria. Where this happens, we require safeguards consistent with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
7. How long we keep information
We keep account and booking information for as long as your account is active and for a further period where needed to meet legal, tax, accounting or dispute-resolution obligations. Identity documents are kept only while they are needed for review and while your account is approved, unless the law requires longer. Security and technical logs are kept for a limited period. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to: confirm whether we hold your information and give you a copy; correct inaccurate information; delete your information where it is no longer needed or the law allows; restrict or object to certain processing; receive your information in a portable format; and withdraw consent where we rely on it. Send your request to support@ogamax.ng. We will verify your identity before responding and aim to respond within the time set by the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies that keep you signed in and protect your session. We also use your browser’s local storage to remember your location and appearance (light or dark) preference, and to keep the app working when the connection is weak. We do not use advertising cookies.
10. Security
We use encryption in transit, protected password storage, access controls that limit staff access to what they need, and monitoring to detect misuse. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong password and keep it private. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
11. Children
OGAMAX is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact support@ogamax.ng and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date of the latest version is shown on this page, and we will tell you about significant changes through the app or by email.
